Brigitte Reyes
Owner and Managing Attorney
Brigitte Reyes is the owner and managing attorney of Carmel & Reyes. Before forming Carmel & Reyes in February 2022, Brigitte was an associate attorney with Carmel & Carmel and worked closely with Frank J. Carmel, the leading expert in advising both domestic and foreign developers, lenders and investors in the legal issues involved in the marketing and sales for real estate in the U.S., for several years before his untimely passing in March 2021.
Brigitte began her professional legal career in Savannah, Georgia with a firm specializing in commercial real estate transactions. Initially aiming to continue real estate transactional practice, Brigitte found a position in a familiar practice area when she relocated to the DC Metro area and began working as an associate attorney with Carmel & Carmel. Brigitte’s experience in the niche area of real estate registration and regulatory compliance began during her attendance at Brooklyn Law School where she reviewed condominium, homeowners’ association and timeshare Offering Plans for compliance with the New York regulations as an intern in the Real Estate Finance Bureau in the Office of the New York Attorney General. She subsequently held a position as a law clerk for nearly two years in a boutique New York law firm where she prepared and submitted Offering Plans to the Real Estate Finance Bureau and assisted with other real estate transactional matters. Brigitte’s unique experience is what earned her a position with Carmel & Carmel. Under Frank Carmel’s mentorship and guidance Brigitte refined and expanded upon her knowledge of the legal issues surrounding the marketing and sale of real estate in the United States and multi-jurisdictional real estate registrations. Brigitte’s career has come full circle as she now submits to the Real Estate Finance Bureau the same filings that she once reviewed as an intern there. Brigitte strives to carry on the late Frank Carmel’s legacy while also leaving her own impression on the land sales registration practice area.
A native of Queens, New York, Brigitte is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn, New York and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York. She is admitted in the District of Columbia, Georgia, and New York, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Brigitte resides in Virginia with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. Brigitte loves spending time outdoors with her family and New York Rangers hockey.
