Samone Smith

Samone Smith is an associate at Carmel & Reyes, where she focuses on ILSFDA compliance for developers, investors, and lenders involved in the marketing and sales of real estate.

Prior to joining Carmel & Reyes, Samone spent three years at Legal Aid DC, where she focused on fair housing and eviction defense. Samone has independently represented tenants through the entirety of their court process. Samone brings experience in civil rights litigation, fair housing advocacy, and regulatory compliance. She has developed a comprehensive view of the housing ecosystem. Samone’s goal was to transition from fair housing to real estate so that she could focus on advising clients on regulatory compliance.

Samone is a midwestern at heart and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. Samone is a graduate of Howard University School of Law in the District of Columbia, and she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Biblical Studies at Abilene Christian University. Samone is admitted to the District of Columbia and a member of the Women’s Bar Association. Samone lives in Maryland and loves to travel.
